MultiVu Video Feed: Capital One's Annual Back to School Survey Shows More Teens Eager to Learn About Money

August 23, 2007 at 11:32 AM EDT
Aug 23, 2007 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- As summer winds down, it's time for back to school shopping. But according to Capital One's seventh annual Back To School Shopping Survey, parents stepping out to shop with their kids may overlook a golden opportunity to talk dollars and cents.

The survey shows an increasing number of teens-52 percent-want to learn about money management. In fact, 35 percent of all teens prefer to learn about money from their parents - yet only 20% of parents have talked to their kids about money and budgeting. Experts say it's time parents started teaching the money skills their teenagers are eager to learn.

Capital One has partnered with the National Consumer Organization Consumer Action to create a complete guide for parents called Talking To Teens About Money, available at www.money-wise.org
