Recognized for its deep commitment to workforce training and
development through the company's Capital One University
MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2014--
Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE: COF) today announced that it
has been named to Training magazine’s Training Top 125. Now in
its 14th year, the Training Top 125 is the only report that ranks
companies that provide unsurpassed development and training for their
employees. Training magazine recognized the 2014 Training Top 125
winners with crystal awards and revealed their rankings during the
Golden Gala—themed in honor of Training magazine’s 50th
anniversary—held during the Training 2014 Conference & Expo at the San
Diego Convention Center.
Capital One was recognized for its deep commitment to workforce training
and development through the company's Capital One University, which
offers more than 2,000 instructor led courses and 1,668 virtual
classroom sessions. Each year, the company’s corporate imperatives set
the path for success, as well as reflect our corporate values. To help
associates deliver on these imperatives, Capital One University partners
with leaders across the company’s lines of business to ensure that
everyone has access to learning that is aligned with business needs and
each associate’s personal goals.
“We start by hiring great people who are eager to learn and be
challenged by their work,” said Crystal Reilly, vice president, Capital
One University. “It’s our goal to help our associates maintain that
enthusiasm for learning. From traditional instructor-led programs to
mentorship opportunities and virtual classrooms that allow associates to
learn ‘on-demand,’ we have created a dynamic and adaptable environment
that provides learning and growth opportunities to help our associates
throughout their careers.”
The Top 125 ranking is determined by assessing a range of factors,
including financial investment in employee development, the scope of
development programs, and how closely such development efforts are
linked to business goals and objectives.
Companies that wish to be considered for Top 125 ranking complete a
detailed application, which is scored both quantitatively (70 percent of
total score) by an outside research and statistical data company and
qualitatively (30 percent of total score) by Training magazine
editors and Top 10 Hall of Fame representatives.
“The 2014 Training Top 125 winners did a stellar job of proving their
training effectiveness with concrete results that helped achieve
corporate strategic goals,” said Lorri Freifeld, editor-in-chief of Training
magazine. “They demonstrated an organization-wide commitment to and
passion for training that is to be commended. Congratulations to all the
companies named to the 2014 Training Top 125.”
