Underscores Company’s Commitment to Supporting the Hiring of
Veterans, Service Members and Military Spouses
MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2012--
Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE: COF) announced today that it
has been designated a 2013 Top 100 Military Friendly Employer® by G.I.
Jobs as well as being named to 2013 Military Friendly Spouse Employers.
This marks the first year the company has been included in the Top 100
Military Friendly Employers® list, which was compiled from a data-driven
survey sample of 5,000 companies whose annual revenues exceeded $500
million. Criteria for selection to the Top 100 list included the
strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new
hires with prior military service, retention programs, and company
policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
Capital One was recognized for its support of military veterans and
National Guard and Reserve members with its military recruitment program
and its support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring our Heroes
program, as a leading sponsor. Capital One’s 3-year, $4.5 million
commitment to the National Chamber Foundation and the Hiring our
Heroes program, is funding the Hiring 500,000 Heroes campaign
and the efforts of the Chamber to support job fairs and workforce
training initiatives across the United States. These initiatives focus
on connecting service members and military spouses with local small
business owners.
“At Capital One, we understand and appreciate the value that military
experience brings to the workplace and we are privileged to have
veterans from every branch of service as colleagues, team members and
leaders throughout our company,” said John G. Finneran, Jr., General
Counsel of Capital One. “We are committed to doing our part. We are
proud to support the transition of servicemen and women to the civilian
workforce and help other companies understand and leverage the unique
skills and experience our veterans have to offer.”
Capital One is committed to providing the veterans and military spouses
we hire with the resources, training and support they need to
successfully transition to the civilian workforce. The company’s
Military Associate Network provides outreach and professional
development opportunities for employees with military backgrounds and
assists them with the transition from the military to a corporate
culture. Capital One also recognizes that commitments to training and
active duty take priority—it provides a range of benefits to support
associates who continue to serve in the military, including time off for
military training and active duty.
Capital One’s company profile, including open positions that are a fit
for military personnel, can be found on MilitaryFriendly.com.

Now in its 10th year, the Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® list is

list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the
