Capital One Celebrates New Building in Dallas/Fort Worth; $20,000 Donation to Irving Cares Marks the Celebration

March 23, 2000 at 12:01 PM EST

FALLS CHURCH, Va., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital One (NYSE: COF) celebrated the grand opening of its newest building in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan Area less than eight months after breaking ground. The new building, located in Irving just north of D/FW airport, is already home to approximately 320 call center associates; capacity for the building is 800. Capital One already employs more than 1,500 associates in the area. Capital One continues to hire for all sites in the area; those interested in opportunities are invited to call the company's hiring line 1-800-77-HIRE-1 or visit the website (www.CapitalOne.com).

"We continue to search for the best and brightest to join our team," said Mitch Beres, Capital One's Director of Risk operations. "The company's growth continues at a rapid pace -- adding approximately 25,000 customers a day. Associates at this new site will help us facilitate that growth and provide our customers with first class service."

Irving Mayor Joe Putnam commented on Capital One's presence in the Metroplex, "Like Capital One, Irving continues to grow at a rapid rate, and we are proud to have such a fine company that is committed to our community as a new partner. We feel very privileged that Capital One chose the Irving community to expand their local operations."

Capital One celebrated the opening of the Irving building by making a $20,000 donation to Irving Cares, Inc., a human-services agency providing financial assistance and temporary betterment, referral and long-term rehabilitation programs to Irving residents.

"When we first announced in 1996 that we would open a site here in Dallas/Fort Worth, we pledged to give something back to the community. Since that time, we have built lasting partnerships with area non-profits, such as United Way, local food banks and the Boys and Girls Clubs -- all organizations committed to making a measurable difference in the lives of children in our community. Irving Cares represents that same commitment," said Mr. Beres.

The 123,500-square-foot facility includes a wide range of amenities such as a learning resource center and a food court.

Capital One also has operations in Richmond, Fredericksburg, Chesterfield and Falls Church, Virginia; Federal Way, Washington; Tampa, Florida; Boston, Massachusetts; Boise, Idaho; as well as London and Nottingham, U.K. Capital One currently employs more than 15,000 associates worldwide.
