Capital One Becomes Major Sponsor of March of Dimes WalkAmerica(R) Events in Louisiana and Texas

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2006--Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE:COF) today announced its sponsorship of the March of Dimes key fund-raising efforts in Louisiana and the two largest cities in Texas.

Capital One, which has banking branches throughout Louisiana and in several Texas cities, now will be the statewide sponsor of March of Dimes WalkAmerica(R) in Louisiana and will provide support for walks in Dallas and Houston. Capital One also will sponsor the March of Dimes Breakfast with a Champion in Dallas Nov. 6, the Signature Chef's Auction in Houston Nov. 16 and the Gourmet Gala in New Orleans Nov. 19.

"Capital One is committed to building a brighter future for children and their families in communities where our associates live and work," said Mike Dobbins, senior vice president/Alternative Distribution for Capital One. "We're pleased to provide support to March of Dimes as it continues to carry out its mission of improving the health of babies."

"Through its sponsorship of prominent March of Dimes events in Louisiana and Texas, Capital One is supporting programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies," said Rob Lucas, senior vice president/Revenue Development with March of Dimes. "We are very excited about this partnership with Capital One."

This new partnership increases Capital One's involvement with March of Dimes. On July 13, Capital One introduced a new debit card option for its Louisiana and Texas banking customers designed to increase awareness and support charitable giving to the March of Dimes and five other leading national organizations serving children. The GiveHope(SM) Platinum Debit Card allows Capital One banking customers to select a debit card that supports the March of Dimes or any of the other five organizations. Every time the card is used for transactions in which the customer chooses the "credit" option and signs for the purchase, the designated organization receives funds from Capital One. The card is offered free of charge to customers throughout Capital One's branch-banking network.
