Capital One Bank Adds New York Real Estate Banking Veteran Bill McCahill to Growing Commercial Banking Team

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 24, 2009-- Capital One Bank today announced the appointment of William McCahill as Executive Vice President and Lead Banker for its New York City Commercial Real Estate team. McCahill will oversee business development, new originations, and client relationships and will report to Rick Lyon, Executive Vice President of Capital One Bank’s Commercial Real Estate business, one of Capital One’s core business units.

A seasoned and respected banker for nearly four decades, McCahill has been the driving force behind many of the most successful real estate banking practices in the New York area. Joining Capital One from Apollo Real Estate Advisors where he was responsible for debt and equity investments in transitional properties, McCahill also served as Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer for Bank of America where he was responsible for both a $12 billion real estate loan portfolio and for guiding Bank of America's real estate marketing strategy in New York City and Long Island.

"Bill represents the very best of real estate banking in New York and will bring an entirely new dimension to our business,” said Lyon. “His strategic view of the market combined with decades of experience and the relationships he has forged over the course of his career make Bill second to none. He will be a tremendous resource for our commercial real estate clients and we are proud to have him join the Commercial Real Estate team.”

“Capital One Bank’s commitment to the Commercial Real Estate business and customer focused philosophy sets it apart in this market and I am very pleased to be a part of it,” said McCahill.

Over the course of his 40 years in commercial real estate, McCahill distinguished himself at every level. In his early career at Chase, he grew through the ranks to lead their commercial real estate business through the 1970s and 1980s and serving as the New York Regional Executive and was responsible for a multi-billion dollar real estate portfolio. Following on his success at Chase, McCahill built Fleet Bank into the region’s premier real estate lender, successfully transitioning the business through the merger with Bank of America. At Bank of America McCahill was an Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer responsible for the bank’s multi-billion dollar real estate loan portfolios in New York City and Long Island.

McCahill is a Director of the NY Archdiocesan Real Estate Committee, a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, a former Vice Chairman of the New York City Housing Partnership, and a former Governor of the Real Estate Board of New York.
